35 | 59 | | officer. Committee meetings may be held in person, by telephone, or |

36 | 60 | | by other means of communication. |

37 | 61 | | (d) The committee may establish subcommittees to assist the |
---|
38 | 62 | | committee in carrying out its duties under this Act. |
---|
39 | 63 | | (e) A member of the committee may not receive compensation |
---|
40 | 64 | | for service on the committee. |
---|
41 | 65 | | (f) The General Land Office and the Texas Historical |
---|
42 | 66 | | Commission shall provide administrative support services at the |
---|
43 | 67 | | request of the committee, including assisting in drafting and |
---|
44 | 68 | | compiling the report required by this Act. |
---|
45 | 69 | | (g) Committee meetings must be open to the public. |
---|
46 | 70 | | SECTION 3. STUDY; REPORT. (a) The committee shall study |
---|
47 | 71 | | the formation of a Texas Bicentennial Commission to plan this |
---|
48 | 72 | | state's celebration of the 2036 bicentennial, including: |
---|
49 | 73 | | (1) the composition of the commission, the manner of |
---|
50 | 74 | | appointing its members, and the total number of members; and |
---|
51 | 75 | | (2) the scope and duties of the commission. |
---|
52 | 76 | | (b) Not later than December 30, 2022, the committee shall |
---|
53 | 77 | | submit a written report to each member of the legislature with |
---|
54 | 78 | | recommendations on the areas of study described by Subsection (a) |
---|
55 | 79 | | of this section and any other recommendations the committee |
---|
56 | 80 | | considers appropriate. |
---|
57 | 81 | | SECTION 4. EXPIRATION. The committee is abolished and this |
---|
58 | 82 | | Act expires January 1, 2023. |
---|
59 | 83 | | SECTION 5. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect September |
---|
60 | 84 | | 1, 2021. |
