| 6 | 12 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 7 | 13 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter G, Chapter 504, Transportation Code, |
|---|
| 8 | 14 | | is amended by adding Section 504.675 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 9 | 15 | | Sec. 504.675. AUTISM AWARENESS LICENSE PLATES. (a) The |
|---|
| 10 | 16 | | department shall issue specialty license plates that include the |
|---|
| 11 | 17 | | words "Autism Awareness." The department shall design the plates in |
|---|
| 12 | 18 | | consultation with a representative of the Hope for Three nonprofit |
|---|
| 13 | 19 | | organization. |
|---|
| 14 | 20 | | (b) After deduction of the department's administrative |
|---|
| 15 | 21 | | costs, the remainder of the fee for issuance of the license plates |
|---|
| 16 | 22 | | shall be deposited to the credit of an account created by the |
|---|
| 17 | 23 | | comptroller in the manner provided by Section 504.6012(b). Money |
|---|
| 18 | 24 | | deposited to that account may be used only by the trusteed programs |
|---|
| 19 | 25 | | within the office of the governor to make grants to a nonprofit |
|---|
| 20 | 26 | | organization whose primary purpose is to create awareness about and |
|---|
| 21 | 27 | | provide support to families living with autism spectrum disorder, |
|---|
| 22 | 28 | | to be used by that organization for that purpose. |
|---|
| 23 | 29 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
