| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 41.0052(a), Election Code, is amended to | |
| 11 | 11 | read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (a) The governing body of a political subdivision, other | |
| 13 | 13 | than a county or municipal utility district, that holds its general | |
| 14 | 14 | election for officers on a date other than the November uniform | |
| 15 | 15 | election date may [, not later than December 31, 2016,] change the | |
| 16 | 16 | date on which it holds its general election for officers to the | |
| 17 | 17 | November uniform election date. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 19 | 19 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 20 | 20 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 21 | 21 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 22 | 22 | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
