7 | 7 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
8 | 8 | SECTION 1. Section 447.012, Government Code, is amended to | |
9 | 9 | read as follows: | |
10 | 10 | Sec. 447.012. APPLIANCE STANDARDS; REPORTS. (a) The state | |
11 | 11 | energy conservation office shall determine the feasibility and | |
12 | 12 | cost-benefit to consumers of setting [appliance] energy efficiency | |
13 | 13 | standards for appliances that are not currently regulated for | |
14 | 14 | energy efficiency in this state by the federal government, if the | |
15 | 15 | office determines that [the] new standards would reduce the | |
16 | 16 | emission of air contaminants or improve the efficiency and | |
17 | 17 | reliability of the delivery of electrical power in Texas, including | |
18 | 18 | in periods of high demand. [The office may not consider the | |
19 | 19 | feasibility and cost-benefit to consumers of setting appliance | |
20 | 20 | standards for air conditioning systems under this section.] | |
21 | 21 | (b) Not later than September 1 of each even-numbered year, | |
22 | 22 | the state energy conservation office shall prepare and submit to | |
23 | 23 | the governor and the legislature written reports on its findings | |
24 | 24 | and recommendations, including legislative recommendations. | |
25 | 25 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
