 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the identification required for voting of a voter with a
 recent name change.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Section 63.0101, Election Code, is amended by
 adding Subsections (d) and (e) to read as follows:
 (d)  A person whose name has changed not more than two years
 before the date the person offers to vote may present
 identification that shows a name of the voter that does not match
 the name on the precinct list of registered voters if the person
 also presents certified documentation of the name change that
 shows:
 (1)  the name of the voter shown on the precinct list of
 registered voters; and
 (2)  the name of the voter shown on the identification
 presented.
 (e)  For purposes of Subsection (d), a signed statement from
 a physician on the letterhead of the physician's official
 stationery that confirms the person's identity constitutes
 certified documentation.
 SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
