10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. (a) The Public Utility Commission of Texas and | |
12 | 12 | the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality shall conduct a study | |
13 | 13 | to create a plan to protect water treatment facilities from: | |
14 | 14 | (1) electrical outages; | |
15 | 15 | (2) catastrophic weather events; | |
16 | 16 | (3) terrorist attacks; | |
17 | 17 | (4) the projected effects of climate change; and | |
18 | 18 | (5) other potential disruptions to providing water | |
19 | 19 | service. | |
20 | 20 | (b) In conducting the study, the Public Utility Commission | |
21 | 21 | of Texas and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality shall | |
22 | 22 | consult with other state agencies or interested persons as needed | |
23 | 23 | to conduct the study. | |
24 | 24 | (c) Not later than September 1, 2022, the Public Utility | |
25 | 25 | Commission of Texas and the Texas Commission on Environmental | |
26 | 26 | Quality shall submit a report on the results of the study to the | |
27 | 27 | governor and the legislature. | |
28 | 28 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
