11 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

12 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 38.036(b), Education Code, is amended to |
---|
13 | 11 | | read as follows: |
---|
14 | 12 | | (b) A policy required by this section must address: |
---|
15 | 13 | | (1) using resources developed by the agency, methods |
---|
16 | 14 | | for: |
---|
17 | 15 | | (A) increasing staff and parent awareness of |
---|
18 | 16 | | trauma-informed care; and |
---|
19 | 17 | | (B) implementation of trauma-informed practices |
---|
20 | 18 | | and care by district and campus staff; [and] |
---|
21 | 19 | | (2) available counseling options for students |
---|
22 | 20 | | affected by trauma or grief; and |
---|
23 | 21 | | (3) the district's plan for providing support to |
---|
24 | 22 | | students, teachers, and district staff in the event of a crisis, |
---|
28 | 25 | | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2021-2022 |
---|
29 | 26 | | school year. |
---|
30 | 27 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
---|
31 | 28 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
---|
32 | 29 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
---|
33 | 30 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
---|
34 | 31 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
