| 10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code, is | |
| 12 | 12 | amended by adding Section 24.6007 to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | Sec. 24.6007. 463RD JUDICIAL DISTRICT (BRAZOS COUNTY). (a) | |
| 14 | 14 | The 463rd Judicial District is composed of Brazos County. | |
| 15 | 15 | (b) The 463rd District Court has concurrent jurisdiction | |
| 16 | 16 | with the statutory county courts of Brazos County in misdemeanor | |
| 17 | 17 | cases as well as the jurisdiction prescribed by general law for | |
| 18 | 18 | district courts. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. Section 43.143(a), Government Code, is amended | |
| 20 | 20 | to read as follows: | |
| 21 | 21 | (a) The voters of the 85th Judicial District elect a | |
| 22 | 22 | district attorney who represents the state in the district courts | |
| 23 | 23 | having jurisdiction in that county. | |
| 24 | 24 | SECTION 3. The 463rd Judicial District is created on the | |
| 25 | 25 | effective date of this Act. | |
| 26 | 26 | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
