8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section Sec. 2.202, Family Code, is amended by | |
10 | 10 | adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | (e) A current judicial officeholder commits an offense if | |
12 | 12 | the person knowingly agrees to accept, directly or indirectly, | |
13 | 13 | overtly or covertly any remuneration in cash or in kind to or from | |
14 | 14 | another for conducting a marriage ceremony. An offense under this | |
15 | 15 | subsection is a Class B Misdemeanor. | |
16 | 16 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
