9+ A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
410 AN ACT
511 relating to the qualifications of directors of certain municipal
612 development districts.
713 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
814 SECTION 1. Section 377.051(e), Local Government Code, is
915 amended to read as follows:
1016 (e) Notwithstanding Subsection (d), a person may qualify to
1117 serve as a director of a district if the person resides in the
1218 independent school district that serves the majority of the
1319 district and the district [that] is located in a municipality:
1420 (1) with a population of more than 5,000 and less than
1521 6,000 and that is located wholly in a county with a population of
1622 more than 20,000 and less than 25,000 and that borders the Brazos
1723 River; or
1824 (2) with a population of more than 1,488 and less than
1925 2,500 and that is located wholly in a county with a population of
2026 more than 20,000 and less than 30,000 that borders the Neches River
2127 and the Trinity River [if the person resides in the independent
2228 school district that serves the majority of the district].
2329 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2430 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2531 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2632 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2733 Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
