| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Subtitle C, Title 5, Business & Commerce Code, is | |
| 10 | 10 | amended by adding Chapter 116 to read as follows: | |
| 11 | 11 | CHAPTER 116. DISPLAY OF KNIVES IN RETAIL ESTABLISHMENTS | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 116.0001. DEFINITIONS. In this chapter: | |
| 13 | 13 | (1) "Knife" has the meaning assigned by Section 46.01, | |
| 14 | 14 | Penal Code. | |
| 15 | 15 | (2) "Retail establishment" means a place of business | |
| 16 | 16 | open to the general public for the sale of goods or services. | |
| 17 | 17 | Sec. 116.0002. DISPLAY OF KNIVES. A retail establishment | |
| 18 | 18 | that displays a knife at the establishment shall keep the knife in a | |
| 19 | 19 | locked transparent case accessible only with the assistance of an | |
| 20 | 20 | employee of the establishment. | |
| 21 | 21 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
