8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 21.401, Education Code, is amended by | |
10 | 10 | adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | (e) A contract between a school district and a classroom | |
12 | 12 | teacher may not require the teacher to work more than 510 minutes | |
13 | 13 | during each day of service. | |
14 | 14 | SECTION 2. Section 21.401(e), Education Code, as added by | |
15 | 15 | this Act, applies only to a contract executed on or after the | |
16 | 16 | effective date of this Act. A contract executed before the | |
17 | 17 | effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the | |
18 | 18 | day the contract was executed, and the former law is continued in | |
19 | 19 | effect for that purpose. | |
20 | 20 | SECTION 3. This Act applies beginning with the 2021-2022 | |
21 | 21 | school year. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
23 | 23 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
24 | 24 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
25 | 25 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
26 | 26 | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
