The bill would amend Chapter 388 of the Health and Safety Code to adopt the International Residential Code, as it exists on May 1, 2021, as the energy code for single-family residential construction. The bill would take effect January 1, 2022.It is assumed that the costs associated with the bill's provisions relating to municipal and county building codes could be absorbed using existing resources.
