| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Chapter 250, Local Government Code, is amended | |
| 11 | 11 | by adding Section 250.012 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 250.012. NATURAL GAS UTILITY SERVICE. Notwithstanding | |
| 13 | 13 | any other law, a municipality or county may not adopt or enforce an | |
| 14 | 14 | ordinance, order, or other regulation that prohibits the use of | |
| 15 | 15 | natural gas utility service in a building as a condition to receive | |
| 16 | 16 | a permit or other approval required to construct or improve the | |
| 17 | 17 | building. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to | |
| 19 | 19 | an application for a permit or other approval filed on or after the | |
| 20 | 20 | effective date of this Act. | |
| 21 | 21 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
