11 | 11 | amended by adding Chapter 128A to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | CHAPTER 128A. LIMITATION ON SUITS AGAINST CERTAIN PERSONS | |
13 | 13 | REPORTING SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY | |
14 | 14 | Sec. 128A.001. LIMITATION ON CIVIL ACTION. A civil action | |
15 | 15 | related to a report of suspicious activity of another person to an | |
16 | 16 | appropriate law enforcement authority may not be brought against | |
17 | 17 | the person who made the report if the person acted: | |
18 | 18 | (1) as a reasonable person would in the same or similar | |
19 | 19 | circumstances; and | |
20 | 20 | (2) with a reasonable belief that the suspicious | |
21 | 21 | activity constituted or was in furtherance of a crime, including an | |
22 | 22 | act of terrorism. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 2. Section 128A.001, Civil Practice and Remedies | |
24 | 24 | Code, as added by this Act, applies only to a cause of action that | |
25 | 25 | accrues on or after the effective date of this Act. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
