9 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 21, Education Code, is | |
11 | 12 | amended by adding Section 21.0444 to read as follows: | |
12 | 13 | Sec. 21.0444. EDUCATOR PREPARATION PROGRAMS FOR MARKETING | |
13 | 14 | EDUCATION CERTIFICATE AND FOR HEALTH SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION | |
14 | 15 | CERTIFICATE. (a) The board shall propose rules under this | |
15 | 16 | subchapter to create abbreviated educator preparation programs for | |
16 | 17 | a person seeking: | |
17 | 18 | (1) a certification to teach courses in marketing; and | |
18 | 19 | (2) a certification to teach courses in health science | |
19 | 20 | technology. | |
20 | 21 | (b) In proposing rules for educator preparation programs | |
21 | - | under this section, the board shall ensure that: | |
22 | - | (1) each program requires at least 200 hours of | |
23 | - | coursework or training; and | |
24 | - | (2) persons certified under the programs may not be | |
25 | - | issued additional certifications based on the person's performance | |
26 | - | on an examination prescribed under Section 21.048. | |

32 | 29 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
33 | 30 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
34 | 31 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
35 | 32 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
36 | 33 | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
