15 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
16 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 775, Health and Safety | |
17 | 11 | Code, is amended by adding Section 775.0311 to read as follows: | |
18 | 12 | Sec. 775.0311. PREVENTIVE HEALTH CARE SERVICES. (a) This | |
19 | 13 | section applies to a district that is licensed as or contracts with: | |
20 | 14 | (1) an emergency medical services provider under | |
21 | 15 | Chapter 773; or | |
22 | 16 | (2) a first responder organization under Chapter 773. | |
23 | 17 | (b) In this section, "preventive health care services" | |
24 | 18 | means out-of-hospital routine health care services, including | |
25 | 19 | immunizations, screenings, checkups, and patient counseling, | |
26 | 20 | provided for the purpose of preventing illness, disease, or other | |
27 | 21 | health problems. | |
28 | - | (c) A district may provide preventive health care services | |
29 | - | to reduce reliance on 9-1-1 transports and systems for routine | |
30 | - | health care and contract with the state or a local government, as | |
31 | - | provided by Section 775.0366, to provide those services. | |

38 | 36 | prior to providing services under this section. | |
39 | 37 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
40 | 38 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
41 | 39 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
42 | 40 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
43 | 41 | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. | |
