| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 262.302(a), Family Code, is amended to | |

| 11 | 11 | (a) A designated emergency infant care provider shall, | |
| 12 | 12 | without a court order, take possession of a child who appears to be | |
| 13 | 13 | younger than one year old [60 days old or younger] if the child is | |
| 14 | 14 | voluntarily delivered to the provider by the child's parent and the | |
| 15 | 15 | parent did not express an intent to return for the child. | |
| 16 | 16 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
