10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. (a) In this section, "department" means the | |
12 | 12 | Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. | |
13 | 13 | (b) Using existing resources, the department shall conduct | |
14 | 14 | a study on the number of incidents and causes of mold contamination | |
15 | 15 | in housing developments that are wholly or partly supported by | |
16 | 16 | financial assistance administered by the department. | |
17 | 17 | (c) Not later than September 1, 2022, the department shall | |
18 | 18 | prepare and submit to the legislature a written report that | |
19 | 19 | summarizes the results of the study conducted under this section | |
20 | 20 | and recommends a course of action for preventing and remediating | |
21 | 21 | incidents and causes of mold contamination in housing developments | |
22 | 22 | that are wholly or partly supported by financial assistance | |
23 | 23 | administered by the department. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act expires September 1, 2023. | |
25 | 25 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
