10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subchapter I, Chapter 21, Education Code, is | |
12 | 12 | amended by adding Section 21.416 to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | Sec. 21.416. CLASSROOM SUPPLY REIMBURSEMENT. (a) A school | |
14 | 14 | district shall reimburse each classroom teacher employed by the | |
15 | 15 | district who teaches students enrolled at or below the ninth grade | |
16 | 16 | level up to $250 per school year for the cost of classroom supplies | |
17 | 17 | purchased by the teacher with the teacher's personal money for the | |
18 | 18 | benefit of those students. | |
19 | 19 | (b) A classroom teacher may be reimbursed under the | |
20 | 20 | classroom supply reimbursement program established under Section | |
21 | 21 | 21.414 for the cost of purchases eligible for reimbursement under | |
22 | 22 | that section for which the teacher is not reimbursed under | |
23 | 23 | Subsection (a). | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2021-2022 | |
25 | 25 | school year. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
27 | 27 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
28 | 28 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
29 | 29 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
30 | 30 | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
