87 relating to a report on recidivism rates.
98 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
109 SECTION 1. Chapter 322, Government Code, is amended by
1110 adding Section 322.0195 to read as follows:
1211 Sec. 322.0195. RECIDIVISM REPORT. (a) The board shall
1312 prepare a biennial report on recidivism that includes rearrest,
1413 reconviction, and reincarceration rates. The report must include:
1514 (1) statewide rates and rates for each county in this
1615 state; and
1716 (2) information regarding:
1817 (A) individuals who have served any part of a
1918 sentence in a county jail; and
2019 (B) individuals who are rearrested, reconvicted,
2120 or reincarcerated in other states.
2221 (b) In preparing the report, the board shall collaborate
2322 with the Department of Public Safety. The Department of Public
2423 Safety shall provide any information requested by the board for the
2524 purpose of preparing the report.
2625 (c) The report may be included in any other report made by
2726 the board.
2827 (d) Not later than December 1 of each even-numbered year,
2928 the board shall submit the report to the governor, lieutenant
3029 governor, and each member of the legislature.
3130 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3231 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3332 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3433 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3534 Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
