| 8 | 8 | | Laredo from The University of Texas System to The Texas A&M |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | University System and to the uses of that property. |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. The following real property in the city of Laredo |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | is transferred from The University of Texas System to The Texas A&M |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | University System: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (1) Blocks 22 and 30, Laredo Airport Subdivision, Webb |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | County, Texas; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (2) Lot 3, Block 23, Laredo Airport Subdivision, Webb |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | County, Texas. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | SECTION 2. Subchapter F, Chapter 87, Education Code, is |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | amended by adding Section 87.506 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Sec. 87.506. LEASE OF CERTAIN PROPERTY TO THE UNIVERSITY OF |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | TEXAS SYSTEM. (a) This section applies to the property located in |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the city of Laredo that was transferred to The Texas A&M University |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | System from The University of Texas System by an act of the 87th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, Regular Session, 2021. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (b) Subject to the provisions of this section, the board of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | regents of The Texas A&M University System may use the property for |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | any purposes related to Texas A&M International University or may |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | lease any portion of the property that is not needed for those |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | purposes. |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | (c) On request of The University of Texas System, the board |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | of regents of The Texas A&M University System shall lease at least a |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | portion of the property to The University of Texas System for use by |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | that system for the campus extension of The University of Texas |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Health Science Center at San Antonio in the city of Laredo |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | authorized by Subchapter M, Chapter 74. The portion of the property |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | leased under this section may not be less than the portion of the |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | property in active use for that campus extension during the |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | 2018-2019 academic year or the 2019-2020 academic year unless The |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | University of Texas System consents to lease a smaller portion. The |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | lease payments charged may not exceed the total amount of direct and |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | indirect costs incurred by The Texas A&M University System to |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | maintain the portion of the property being leased. |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | (d) The requirement to lease at least a portion of the |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | property under Subsection (c) expires if The University of Texas |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | System ceases to use the property for purposes of the campus |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | extension for one or more academic years or notifies The Texas A&M |
|---|
| 47 | 47 | | University System that it no longer elects to lease the property for |
|---|
| 48 | 48 | | that purpose. |
|---|
| 49 | 49 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect January 1, 2022. |
