55 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
66 WHEREAS, For more than 90 years, Texas Southern University
77 has played an important role in higher education in the Lone Star
88 State, and while the school currently offers baccalaureate,
99 master's, and doctoral degree programs in numerous schools, it does
1010 not have a divinity program or a school of religion; now, therefore,
1111 be it
1212 RESOLVED, That the 87th Legislature of the State of Texas
1313 hereby direct the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to
1414 conduct a study on the creation of a divinity program, from
1515 undergraduate to doctoral degrees, at Texas Southern University
1616 with a goal to establish a program before the start of the 88th
1717 regular legislative session; and, be it further
1818 RESOLVED, That the secretary of state forward an official
1919 copy of this resolution to the chair of the Texas Higher Education
2020 Coordinating Board.
