| 11 | 7 | | state that encompasses numerous ecosystems and a rich assortment of |

|---|
| 13 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Ranging from the lush forests of East Texas to the |
|---|
| 14 | 10 | | majestic desert landscape of the Big Bend, from the windswept |
|---|
| 15 | 11 | | grasslands of the Panhandle to the barrier islands of the Gulf |

| 16 | 12 | | Coast, these habitats are home to countless species of trees and |
|---|
| 17 | 13 | | other vegetation; they are also populated by an immense variety of |
|---|
| 18 | 14 | | wildlife, including such signature Texas animals as the javelina, |
|---|
| 19 | 15 | | the western diamondback rattlesnake, the roadrunner, and the |
|---|
| 20 | 16 | | armadillo, as well as such impressive and rarely seen creatures as |
|---|
| 21 | 17 | | the mountain lion, the black bear, and the peregrine falcon; and |
|---|
| 22 | 18 | | WHEREAS, These resources benefit the state in many ways; |
|---|
| 23 | 19 | | Texans young and old have abundant opportunities to enjoy |
|---|
| 24 | 20 | | recreational pursuits and to learn about the wonders of the natural |
|---|
| 25 | 21 | | world, and the great Texas outdoors contributes to economic |
|---|
| 26 | 22 | | vitality as well; visitors are drawn to the state for fishing, |
|---|
| 27 | 23 | | hunting, birding, hiking, boating, and myriad other activities that |
|---|
| 28 | 24 | | boost tourism and create jobs; and |
|---|
| 29 | 25 | | WHEREAS, The diverse plants, animals, and habitats of the |
|---|
| 30 | 26 | | Lone Star State are a source of great pride to the people of Texas, |
|---|
| 31 | 27 | | and it is indeed appropriate to celebrate this rich heritage and to |
|---|
| 32 | 28 | | highlight the importance of preserving it for future generations; |

| 34 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the 87th Legislature of the State of Texas |

| 35 | 31 | | hereby designate November as Texas Wildlife and Conservation Month; |

| 37 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That, in accordance with the provisions of Section |

| 38 | 34 | | 391.004(d), Government Code, this designation remain in effect |
