56 WHEREAS, Shelby Landgraf is the recipient of a 2021 West
67 Texas Women of Distinction Award from the Girl Scouts of the Desert
78 Southwest; and
89 WHEREAS, The Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest connects
910 nearly 3,800 girls across West Texas and Southern New Mexico; the
1011 council's Women of Distinction Award recognizes women whose
1112 extraordinary contributions to their communities exemplify the
1213 organization's mission of developing leaders of courage,
1314 confidence, and strong character; and
1415 WHEREAS, A proud "military brat," Shelby Landgraf grew up all
1516 over the world and spent part of every summer in West Texas; after
1617 earning her bachelor's degree in speech communication and business
1718 administration from Trinity University, she embarked on a
1819 successful career in broadcast journalism; and
1920 WHEREAS, Ms. Landgraf worked as an associate producer in San
2021 Antonio and a reporter and weekend anchor in North Texas and
2122 Oklahoma before joining CBS7 in Odessa as the co-anchor of the
2223 evening news; despite her busy schedule, she finds time to give back
2324 as a member of the board of the West Texas Food Bank and the advisory
2425 board of the John Ben Shepperd Public Leadership Institute and as a
2526 volunteer at her daughter's school; and
2627 WHEREAS, With her receipt of a West Texas Women of
2728 Distinction Award, Shelby Landgraf joins an elite group of civic
2829 leaders who have been honored by the Girl Scouts of the Desert
2930 Southwest, and she is indeed a worthy role model for this and future
3031 generations; now, therefore, be it
3132 RESOLVED, That the 87th Legislature of the State of Texas
3233 hereby congratulate Shelby Landgraf on receiving a 2021 West Texas
3334 Women of Distinction Award from the Girl Scouts of the Desert
3435 Southwest and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and,
3536 be it further
3637 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3738 prepared for Ms. Landgraf as an expression of high regard by the
3839 Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
