55 A JOINT RESOLUTION
66 proposing a constitutional amendment relating to the maximum tax
77 rate that may be imposed on property in an emergency services
88 district.
99 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 48-e, Article III, Texas Constitution,
1111 is amended to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 48-e. Laws may be enacted to provide for the
1313 establishment and creation of special districts to provide
1414 emergency services and to authorize the commissioners courts of
1515 participating counties to levy a tax on the ad valorem property
1616 situated in said districts not to exceed 15 cents [Ten Cents (10ยข)]
1717 on the $100 [One Hundred Dollars ($100.00)] valuation for the
1818 support thereof; provided that no tax shall be levied in support of
1919 said districts until approved by a vote of the qualified voters
2020 residing therein. Such a district may provide emergency medical
2121 services, emergency ambulance services, rural fire prevention and
2222 control services, or other emergency services authorized by the
2323 Legislature.
2424 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
2525 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 2, 2021.
2626 The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
2727 proposition: "The constitutional amendment to increase the maximum
2828 tax rate that may be imposed on property in an emergency services
2929 district if approved by the voters of the district."
