55 A JOINT RESOLUTION
66 proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing the legislature
77 to enact laws providing for a court to grant a commutation of
88 punishment to certain individuals serving a term of imprisonment.
99 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Article V, Texas Constitution, is amended by
1111 adding Section 33 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 33. The legislature by general law may provide for a
1313 court to grant a commutation of punishment to certain individuals
1414 serving a term of imprisonment.
1515 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
1616 submitted to the voters at an election to be held on November 2,
1717 2021. The ballot shall be printed to provide voting for or against
1818 the proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing the
1919 legislature to enact laws providing for a court to grant a
2020 commutation of punishment to certain individuals serving a term of
2121 imprisonment."
