| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Article V, Texas Constitution, is amended by | |

| 13 | 13 | Sec. 8a. The legislature by general law may provide for a | |
| 14 | 14 | district court to reduce or modify a sentence imposing a term of | |
| 15 | 15 | imprisonment for a person who has served not less than 10 years of | |
| 16 | 16 | the term. | |
| 17 | 17 | SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | |
| 18 | 18 | submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 2, 2021. | |
| 19 | 19 | The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | |
| 20 | 20 | proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing the | |
| 21 | 21 | legislature to enact laws providing for a district court to reduce | |
| 22 | 22 | or modify a sentence imposing a term of imprisonment for a person | |
| 23 | 23 | who has served not less than 10 years of the term." |
