55 A JOINT RESOLUTION
66 proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing the legislature
77 to enact laws providing for a district court to reduce or modify a
88 sentence imposing a term of imprisonment for a person who has served
99 not less than 10 years of the term.
1010 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Article V, Texas Constitution, is amended by
1212 adding Section 8a to read as follows:
1313 Sec. 8a. The legislature by general law may provide for a
1414 district court to reduce or modify a sentence imposing a term of
1515 imprisonment for a person who has served not less than 10 years of
1616 the term.
1717 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
1818 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 2, 2021.
1919 The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
2020 proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing the
2121 legislature to enact laws providing for a district court to reduce
2222 or modify a sentence imposing a term of imprisonment for a person
2323 who has served not less than 10 years of the term."
