| 9 | 9 | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 47, Article III, Texas Constitution, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (f) to | |
| 12 | 12 | read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | (a) The Legislature shall pass laws prohibiting lotteries | |
| 14 | 14 | and gift enterprises in this State other than those authorized by | |
| 15 | 15 | Subsections (b), (d), (d-1), [and] (e), and (f) of this section. | |
| 16 | 16 | (f) The legislature by law may authorize and regulate | |
| 17 | 17 | wagering on professional and collegiate sporting events. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | |
| 19 | 19 | submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 2, 2021. | |
| 20 | 20 | The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | |
| 21 | 21 | proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing the | |
| 22 | 22 | legislature to legalize wagering on professional and collegiate | |
| 23 | 23 | sporting events in this state." |
