| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Clifton Park Elementary School students, faculty, |

| 6 | 7 | | and staff are gathering on May 21, 2021, to bid farewell to the |

| 7 | 8 | | school's current campus at 2200 Trimmier Road in Killeen; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Originally set to open in the fall of 1964, the |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | campus was still under construction when the school year started, |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | and its students initially attended other schools in the area while |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | waiting for the building to be completed; the campus finally opened |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | its doors in late October of that year, though the school was still |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | unnamed and informally referred to as Southside Elementary; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, In order to meet the growing needs of the community, |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Clifton Park Elementary has undergone a number of additions and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | renovations over the years, and a bilingual program was launched in |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | 2001; led by principal Jennifer Carranza, the school's hardworking |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | staff currently serves more than 500 students in prekindergarten |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | through fifth grade; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, After 57 years at the Trimmier Road campus, Clifton |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Park Elementary is moving to a new 124,000-square-foot facility on |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Jasper Road as part of its merger with Bellaire Elementary; |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | continuing under the Clifton Park name, the consolidated school is |

| 24 | 25 | | scheduled to open in the fall of 2021; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Clifton Park Elementary has helped generations of |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Killeen residents to reach their full potential and to become |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | engaged and productive members of society, and the school is indeed |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | deserving of recognition at this important turning point in its |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | history; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | Legislature hereby honor Clifton Park Elementary School on the |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | occasion of its farewell ceremony at the Trimmier Road campus and |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | extend to all those associated with the school sincere best wishes |

| 34 | 35 | | for the future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
