| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their |

| 6 | 7 | | memories of Larry Carlos Hammonds, who died on November 17, 2020, at |

| 7 | 8 | | the age of 74; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Larry Hammonds was born in Sulphur Springs on |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | October 3, 1946, to John Carlos and Mattie Hammonds, and he grew up |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | with five siblings, Bobby, Melba, Jane, Pat, and Joyce; after |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | graduating from Brewer High School in 1965, he answered his |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | nation's call to duty and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1966 |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | to 1972; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Returning to civilian life, Mr. Hammonds earned an |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | associate degree at Weatherford College and then went on to |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | complete a bachelor's degree in business administration at Texas |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Wesleyan University; he began his professional life as the tax |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | assessor for the White Settlement Independent School District, and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | for the last 37 years of his career, he was the chief appraiser for |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | the Parker County Appraisal District; actively engaged in his |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | community, he was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Weatherford |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Rotary Club; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Hammonds shared a rewarding marriage with his |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | wife, Beverly Sue Hammonds, that spanned 53 years, and he took great |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | pride in their sons, Phil and Jeff; with the passing years, he had |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include five |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | grandchildren, Ryan, Lauren, Taylor, Barrett, and Brenley; in his |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | leisure hours, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and playing |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | golf; and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, A devoted family man, a respected public servant, |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | and a proud military veteran, Larry Hammonds lived a full and |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | generous life, and he will long be remembered with deep affection by |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | all who held him close to their hearts; now, therefore, be it |

| 34 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Larry Carlos |

| 36 | 37 | | Hammonds and extend heartfelt sympathy to his relatives and many |
|---|
| 37 | 38 | | friends; and, be it further |

| 38 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 39 | 40 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|---|
| 40 | 41 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Larry |
