| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Megan Rios has been named the 2020-2021 Teacher of |

| 6 | 7 | | the Year at Plummer Elementary in the Cedar Hill Independent School |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to |

| 9 | 10 | | become successful and productive adults, and those men and women |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference |

| 11 | 12 | | in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, A 2007 graduate of Cedar Hill High School, Ms. Rios |

| 13 | 14 | | began her career in education as an instructional aide at Plummer |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Elementary and is now in her eighth year teaching kindergarten at |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | the school; she holds a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | University-Commerce and is currently pursuing a master's degree in |

| 17 | 18 | | mathematics at The University of Texas at Arlington; and |

| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Megan Rios exemplifies the passion, determination, |

| 19 | 20 | | and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our best teachers, |

| 20 | 21 | | and she has set a standard of excellence to which all in her |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it |

| 22 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 23 | 24 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Megan Rios on her selection as the |

| 24 | 25 | | 2020-2021 Teacher of the Year at Plummer Elementary and extend to |

| 25 | 26 | | her sincere best wishes for continued success with her important |
