| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Residents of Rockwall are gathering at Tate Farms on |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, In 2019, the event was established by Brittany |

| 8 | 9 | | Hardin, proprietor of Bonafide Betties Pie Company, and Melissa |

| 9 | 10 | | Tate, who owns Tate Farms along with her husband; and |

| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The inaugural Pie Fest got off to a chilly start when |

| 11 | 12 | | a severe spring cold front swept in; as temperatures plummeted into |

| 12 | 13 | | the 30s, a determined crowd forged on despite all obstacles, buying |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | up all the pie; and |

| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, While the opportunity to consume pie is reason |

| 15 | 16 | | enough to convene, the festival also includes elements of |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | competition; pie eating and pie baking contests will put the skill |

| 17 | 18 | | and appetites of both children and adults to the test, and the event |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | will feature a vintage car and truck show and a display of custom |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | motorcycles and mini-bikes; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Texas Pie Fest provides fun and fellowship for |

| 21 | 22 | | Rockwall residents and visitors alike, and this year's gathering |

| 22 | 23 | | promises to be a source of fond memories for those who attend; now, |

| 24 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 25 | 26 | | Legislature hereby recognize June 12, 2021, as Texas Pie Fest Day |
