5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived remain to comfort the |

6 | 7 | | family and friends of Robert Marion Estes of Parker County, who |

7 | 8 | | passed away on November 19, 2020, at the age of 87; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Bob Estes was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on October |
---|
9 | 10 | | 16, 1933, to Charles Gullard Estes and Daisy Brown Estes, and he |
---|
10 | 11 | | grew up with the companionship of a brother, Charles; after |
---|
11 | 12 | | graduating from Treadwell High School in 1951, he enrolled at the |
---|
12 | 13 | | University of Tennessee, where he earned a bachelor's degree in |
---|
13 | 14 | | business administration; while there, he pledged Lambda Chi Alpha |
---|
14 | 15 | | Fraternity; and |
---|
15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Estes was drafted into the United States Army in |
---|
16 | 17 | | 1954, and he went on to serve as a high-speed radio operator in |
---|
17 | 18 | | Germany; after returning stateside, he wed the former Carolyn Hull, |
---|
18 | 19 | | with whom he shared 60 years of marriage until her passing; he |
---|
19 | 20 | | excelled in his career as a gear designer for International |
---|
20 | 21 | | Harvester, an agricultural and automotive manufacturer, and was |
---|
21 | 22 | | later promoted to its corporate general offices in Chicago, |
---|
22 | 23 | | Illinois, to work in labor relations; in 1969, he moved to Fort |
---|
23 | 24 | | Worth, where he was employed as an industrial engineer for 28 years |
---|
24 | 25 | | and notably developed computerized methods for estimating machine |
---|
25 | 26 | | work; and |
---|
26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Mr. Estes was blessed with two |
---|
27 | 28 | | sons, Robert and David, two granddaughters, Emily and Elizabeth, |
---|
28 | 29 | | and a great-granddaughter, Caroline, along with many nieces and |
---|
29 | 30 | | nephews; he loved the outdoors and enjoyed taking hunting trips |
---|
30 | 31 | | with his sons and granddaughters; and |
---|
31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Although Bob Estes is deeply missed, he will forever |
---|
32 | 33 | | be remembered with great admiration and affection by those he |
---|
33 | 34 | | leaves behind; now, therefore, be it |

34 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

35 | 36 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Robert Marion Estes |
