| 7 | 8 | | February 8, 2020, at the age of 21, while attending the U.S. Naval |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The son of Jennifer and Gerald Carrillo, Duke |

| 10 | 11 | | Carrillo was born in San Antonio on October 2, 1998, and grew up in |

| 11 | 12 | | Flower Mound with his twin brother, Dylan, and his younger brother, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Jake; he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 14, and at |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Flower Mound High School he was a three-year varsity letterman in |

| 14 | 15 | | football and wrestling, serving as captain of both teams and |

| 15 | 16 | | placing third in the state wrestling championship in his senior |

| 16 | 17 | | year; after graduating from high school in 2017, he attended the |

| 17 | 18 | | Naval Academy Preparatory School in Rhode Island for a year before |

| 18 | 19 | | he and his brother Dylan together joined the Class of 2022 at the |

| 19 | 20 | | Naval Academy; his brother Jake followed a year later, joining the |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, At Annapolis, Midshipman Carrillo was majoring in |

| 22 | 23 | | quantitative economics, and he had earned a 4.0 grade average |

| 23 | 24 | | during his last semester; he served as a Naval Academy Summer |

| 24 | 25 | | Seminar squad leader during the summer of 2019, and as a member of |

| 25 | 26 | | the academy's Flight Training Squadron, he aspired to be a naval |

| 26 | 27 | | aviator; and |

| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, High-spirited and hard-working, Midshipman Carrillo |

| 28 | 29 | | delighted in the times he spent with his brothers and his friends; |

| 29 | 30 | | he was a proud Texan who enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting, and |

| 30 | 31 | | archery, and he was a true fan of Texas Red Dirt music; he was buried |

| 31 | 32 | | with military honors at Annapolis, and his loved ones have created a |

| 32 | 33 | | foundation in his memory; and |

| 33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to his family, his country, and his |

| 34 | 35 | | friends, Duke Carrillo will forever be remembered by all who knew |

| 35 | 36 | | him as a generous, energetic, and fiercely loyal young man who gave |

| 36 | 37 | | everything he had to everything he did; now, therefore, be it |

| 37 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
