| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A full and productive life drew to a close with the |

| 6 | 7 | | passing of Vidal Castillo of San Antonio on April 13, 2019, at the |

| 7 | 8 | | age of 87; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of Vidal Castillo and Rosa Cervera Castillo, |

| 9 | 10 | | Vidal Castillo was born in San Antonio on March 28, 1932; he grew up |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | on the Westside with five siblings, Isabel, Esequiel, Richard, |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Victor, and Elia; while attending Lanier High School, he enlisted |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | in the United States Air Force; he married his high school |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | sweetheart, Gloria Salas, in April 1951, before heading off to boot |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | camp; his reserve unit was called up in 1967, and he proudly served |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | with the 34th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron during the Vietnam |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | War; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The Castillos raised three treasured children, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Orlando, Gabriel, and Rene, and mourned the loss of an infant |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | daughter, Gloria Ann; through the years, Mr. Castillo shared many |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | precious moments with a large circle of loved ones that grew to |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | include 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, many nieces and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | nephews, and close friends whom he regarded as family members; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, For 35 years, Mr. Castillo was employed by the |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | United States Postal Service, and he was a card-carrying member of |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | the National Association of Letter Carriers; following his |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | retirement, he and his wife explored the country in their RV and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | traveled internationally to visit friends and relatives in Europe |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | and Japan; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Although Vidal Castillo is greatly missed, he has |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | left his loved ones with a wealth of memories that they will forever |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | cherish; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Vidal Castillo and |

| 34 | 35 | | extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it |
