45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The members of the girls' basketball team from
67 Panhandle High School distinguished themselves during the
78 2020-2021 season, advancing all the way to the semifinals of the
89 University Interscholastic League 2A playoffs; and
910 WHEREAS, During the regular schedule, the Pantherettes
1011 compiled an outstanding record of 23 wins and 3 losses and claimed
1112 the District 2-2A title; Panhandle then embarked on an exciting
1213 postseason run, defeating the teams from Sunray, Farwell, Gruver,
1314 and New Home High Schools to advance to the regional finals; and
1415 WHEREAS, Combining a stout defense with clutch shooting, the
1516 Pantherettes triumphed over Wellington High School by a score of
1617 43-36 to punch their ticket to the state tournament; in the
1718 semifinals, the Panhandle players gave their all in a hard-fought
1819 battle, but ultimately fell to eventual state champion Lipan High
1920 School; the Pantherettes ended their memorable season with an
2021 impressive 28-4 record; and
2122 WHEREAS, Excelling with a true team effort, the Pantherettes
2223 received valuable contributions throughout the year from each
2324 member of the roster: Kandin Ford, Katelyn Haney, Sydney Adee,
2425 Bailey Walterscheid, Mason Jones, Mackie Land, Grace Sims, Halle
2526 Ford, Taylor Brinkley, Emmery Sides, Annison Thomas, Savannah
2627 Sinclair, McKinzy Segura, Kate Kuehler, and Kinlea Ford; these
2728 dedicated athletes were ably guided by head coach Rob Schmucker and
2829 assistant coaches Sheena Schmucker and McKinsie Childers;
2930 additional support was provided by videographer Aubree Crawford,
3031 statistician Luke Schmucker, and manager James Schmucker; and
3132 WHEREAS, Through hard work and an unwavering resolve to give
3233 their very best, the members of the Panhandle girls' basketball
3334 team have earned the admiration of their fellow students and their
3435 many community supporters, and they may indeed reflect with pride
3536 on their accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
3637 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
3738 Legislature hereby congratulate the Panhandle High School girls'
3839 basketball team on advancing to the semifinals of the 2021 UIL 2A
3940 state playoffs and extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff
4041 sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
4142 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4243 prepared for the Pantherettes as an expression of high regard by the
4344 Texas House of Representatives.
