H.R. No. 1137
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Evan Hodge of St. Mary's Catholic School in Longview
achieved great distinction by winning two medals at the 2021 Texas
Association of Private and Parochial Schools Track and Field State
Championships; and
WHEREAS, Joining other top high school competitors from
throughout Texas at Panther Stadium in Hewitt on April 30 and May 1,
Mr. Hodge turned in outstanding performances in several 1A events;
he claimed the state title in the 100-meter dash with a time of
11.94 seconds and a bronze medal in the triple jump, recording a
distance of 38 feet, 1 inch; in addition, he finished sixth in the
200-meter dash and fourth in the long jump; and
WHEREAS, By excelling in this premier showcase for high
school track and field athletes, Evan Hodge has ably represented
his school and community, and he will cherish his memories of this
outstanding accomplishment for years to come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Evan Hodge on winning two medals at
the 2021 TAPPS Track and Field State Championships and extend to him
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Hodge as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
