5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Faye Beaulieu of Bedford is retiring from the |

6 | 7 | | Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District board of trustees |

7 | 8 | | in 2021, following an exemplary tenure that has spanned 26 years; |
---|
8 | 9 | | and |

9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, This accomplished public servant initially became |
---|
10 | 11 | | involved in local education issues as a PTA volunteer while her four |
---|
11 | 12 | | children attended elementary school; she was first elected as a |
---|
12 | 13 | | trustee in 1995, and her dedicated service has included six years as |
---|
13 | 14 | | president of the school board; as the district's enrollment has |
---|
14 | 15 | | grown to more than 23,000 pupils, she has worked effectively with |
---|
15 | 16 | | other board members to expand opportunities for a student body that |
---|
16 | 17 | | is one of the state's most diverse; among the specialized programs |
---|
17 | 18 | | she has supported are full-day kindergarten and Core Knowledge |
---|
18 | 19 | | Pre-K offerings for younger children, theater and cybersecurity |
---|
19 | 20 | | courses for junior high students, and International Baccalaureate |
---|
20 | 21 | | studies at both 6A high schools; Dr. Beaulieu has also urged the |
---|
21 | 22 | | adoption of arts and foreign language education initiatives, such |
---|
22 | 23 | | as Suzuki Strings & Secondary Orchestra, Spanish Immersion, and |
---|
23 | 24 | | instruction in Hindi and Arabic; and |
---|
24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Beaulieu and the other members of the H-E-B |
---|
25 | 26 | | school board have practiced sound fiscal management in the |
---|
26 | 27 | | construction of new facilities, such as the Pat May Center and the |
---|
27 | 28 | | Gene A. Buinger Career & Technical Education Academy; in 2016, the |
---|
28 | 29 | | district received the Magna Award Grand Prize from the National |
---|
29 | 30 | | School Boards Association for its innovative Ambassador Academy, |
---|
30 | 31 | | which offers residents an in-depth look at district operations; |
---|
31 | 32 | | another recent honor was the 2020 Outstanding School Board Award |
---|
32 | 33 | | from the Texas Association of School Administrators; through the |
---|
33 | 34 | | years, Dr. Beaulieu's visionary leadership has been widely |
---|
34 | 35 | | appreciated by her peers, and she served as president of the Texas |
---|
35 | 36 | | Association of School Boards from 2013 to 2014; and |
---|
36 | 37 | | WHEREAS, Deeply engaged in her community, Dr. Beaulieu |
---|
37 | 38 | | worked as a volunteer with United Way of Tarrant County before |
---|
38 | 39 | | joining the organization's staff and now holds the position of |
---|
39 | 40 | | senior vice president of community investment; moreover, she has |
---|
40 | 41 | | served on numerous boards and committees in the local area, and her |
---|
41 | 42 | | efforts have been honored with the Northeast Leadership Forum |
---|
42 | 43 | | Distinguished Leadership Award, the HEB Chamber of Commerce |
---|
43 | 44 | | Community Service and Clyde Mooney Awards, and the Girl Scouts |

44 | 45 | | Connector Award; and |
---|
45 | 46 | | WHEREAS, Faye Beaulieu has demonstrated an exceptional |

46 | 47 | | commitment to public education, earning the respect of her |
---|
47 | 48 | | colleagues and fellow citizens, and she may indeed reflect with |

48 | 49 | | pride on her long record of service; now, therefore, be it |
---|
49 | 50 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
---|
50 | 51 | | Legislature hereby honor Dr. Faye Beaulieu on the occasion of her |

51 | 52 | | retirement as a trustee of the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent |

52 | 53 | | School District and extend to her sincere best wishes for the |
