45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Dr. Faye Beaulieu of Bedford is retiring from the
67 Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District board of trustees
78 in 2021, following an exemplary tenure that has spanned 26 years;
89 and
910 WHEREAS, This accomplished public servant initially became
1011 involved in local education issues as a PTA volunteer while her four
1112 children attended elementary school; she was first elected as a
1213 trustee in 1995, and her dedicated service has included six years as
1314 president of the school board; as the district's enrollment has
1415 grown to more than 23,000 pupils, she has worked effectively with
1516 other board members to expand opportunities for a student body that
1617 is one of the state's most diverse; among the specialized programs
1718 she has supported are full-day kindergarten and Core Knowledge
1819 Pre-K offerings for younger children, theater and cybersecurity
1920 courses for junior high students, and International Baccalaureate
2021 studies at both 6A high schools; Dr. Beaulieu has also urged the
2122 adoption of arts and foreign language education initiatives, such
2223 as Suzuki Strings & Secondary Orchestra, Spanish Immersion, and
2324 instruction in Hindi and Arabic; and
2425 WHEREAS, Dr. Beaulieu and the other members of the H-E-B
2526 school board have practiced sound fiscal management in the
2627 construction of new facilities, such as the Pat May Center and the
2728 Gene A. Buinger Career & Technical Education Academy; in 2016, the
2829 district received the Magna Award Grand Prize from the National
2930 School Boards Association for its innovative Ambassador Academy,
3031 which offers residents an in-depth look at district operations;
3132 another recent honor was the 2020 Outstanding School Board Award
3233 from the Texas Association of School Administrators; through the
3334 years, Dr. Beaulieu's visionary leadership has been widely
3435 appreciated by her peers, and she served as president of the Texas
3536 Association of School Boards from 2013 to 2014; and
3637 WHEREAS, Deeply engaged in her community, Dr. Beaulieu
3738 worked as a volunteer with United Way of Tarrant County before
3839 joining the organization's staff and now holds the position of
3940 senior vice president of community investment; moreover, she has
4041 served on numerous boards and committees in the local area, and her
4142 efforts have been honored with the Northeast Leadership Forum
4243 Distinguished Leadership Award, the HEB Chamber of Commerce
4344 Community Service and Clyde Mooney Awards, and the Girl Scouts
4445 Connector Award; and
4546 WHEREAS, Faye Beaulieu has demonstrated an exceptional
4647 commitment to public education, earning the respect of her
4748 colleagues and fellow citizens, and she may indeed reflect with
4849 pride on her long record of service; now, therefore, be it
4950 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
5051 Legislature hereby honor Dr. Faye Beaulieu on the occasion of her
5152 retirement as a trustee of the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent
5253 School District and extend to her sincere best wishes for the
5354 future; and, be it further
5455 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5556 prepared for Dr. Beaulieu as an expression of high regard by the
5657 Texas House of Representatives.
