| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Alexis Jackson has been named the 2020 Child |

| 6 | 7 | | Advocate of the Year by Child Advocates of Fort Bend; and |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Founded in 1991, CAFB is a nonprofit agency that |

| 8 | 9 | | serves child victims of abuse and neglect by providing therapy and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | mental health services in addition to case management and clinical |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | family advocacy; working in coordination with Court Appointed |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Special Advocates (CASA) and the Children's Advocacy Center, the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | agency has assisted nearly 19,000 children since its inception; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Alexis Jackson began volunteering with CASA in 2016, |

| 14 | 15 | | and she has served children in the Infant and Toddler program as |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | well as the Nurturing Education and Social Triumphs (NEST) program, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | which is focused on helping young people ages 6 to 13; this |

| 17 | 18 | | dedicated volunteer was the first in the organization to join both |

| 18 | 19 | | the Friends Council fundraising auxiliary group and the Volunteer |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Council, where she helps to provide support and mentorship for new |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | volunteers; moreover, she is a lead member of the CAFB annual |

| 21 | 22 | | Christmas Home Tour and Gala; and |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Alexis Jackson's dedication, compassion, and |

| 23 | 24 | | commitment to the children of Fort Bend County have made a positive |

| 24 | 25 | | and lasting difference in the lives of many area residents, and she |

| 25 | 26 | | is indeed deserving of this notable accolade; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
