| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Gregory Harrington has been named the 2021 Parent |

| 6 | 7 | | Advocate of the Year by the Texas Public Charter Schools |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, With 760 member schools throughout the state, TPCSA |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | supports policies that allow charter schools to continue providing |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | a high quality education to the more than 300,000 students they |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | serve; the organization also equips charter school leaders, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | teachers, and parents to advocate for their own schools; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Gregory Harrington is a member of the strategic |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | planning committee for the Pflugerville Independent School |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | District and the advisory board for the Harmony Science Academy |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | charter school district, where one of his daughters is a student; he |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | regularly meets with lawmakers in behalf of Central Texas parents, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | and he recently testified before the House Public Education |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Committee; moreover, he was a motivational speaker at the 2021 |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | TPCSA Parent Pep Rally; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, In addition to his advocacy efforts, Mr. Harrington |

| 22 | 23 | | has benefited students by founding a back-to-school parade and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | fundraiser to purchase supplies for children in need, and as a |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | member of the National Society of Black Engineers, he arranged |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | opportunities for local students to meet with professionals in the |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields; he has |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | also served as president of the Black Professional Alliance, and he |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | is a graduate of Leadership Austin's Essential program; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Gregory Harrington has worked tirelessly in behalf |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | of Texas schoolchildren, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | many contributions; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Gregory Harrington on being named |

| 34 | 35 | | the 2021 Parent Advocate of the Year by the Texas Public Charter |
