45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The nonprofit coffee shop Well Grounded Coffee
67 Community in Dallas celebrated its grand opening in December 2020,
78 and this unique and compassionate enterprise is truly deserving of
89 special recognition; and
910 WHEREAS, Established by co-presidents Natalie and Michael
1011 Huscheck in the Casa Linda area of East Dallas, the shop employs
1112 four formerly incarcerated women who are also mothers, providing
1213 them with jobs as well as the opportunity to rebuild their lives
1314 after prison; and
1415 WHEREAS, All of the shop's employees are members of Exodus
1516 Ministries, a program which provides housing to nonviolent
1617 ex-offenders and their children, enabling them to begin new lives
1718 together; and
1819 WHEREAS, Two of the shop's first employees, Natasha Weir and
1920 Maricela Espinosa, helped develop the menu and prepare the shop for
2021 its grand opening, and new hires Angela Walterscheid and Hannah
2122 Dorsey are contributing to the shop's welcoming and collaborative
2223 atmosphere; and
2324 WHEREAS, By providing these hardworking and dedicated women
2425 with jobs and the chance to learn valuable skills, Well Grounded
2526 Coffee Community is helping them to gain confidence and purpose as
2627 productive members of society; now, therefore, be it
2728 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
2829 Legislature hereby commemorate the grand opening of Well Grounded
2930 Coffee Community and extend to all those associated with the shop
3031 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
3132 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3233 prepared for Well Grounded Coffee Community as an expression of
3334 high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
