H.R. No. 1173
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Diego Barron of Mesquite has achieved great
distinction by earning a spot on the 2021 USA Boxing Junior High
Performance Squad as the nation's top-ranked boxer in his division;
and
WHEREAS, A freshman at Mesquite High School, Mr. Barron
emerged as the No. 1 boxer in the 110-pound junior weight class
following his recent performance at a tournament in Shreveport,
Louisiana; as a result, he made the USA Boxing junior men's roster
in the flyweight category and will train with the team in Colorado
Springs, Colorado, in the summer of 2021; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Barron has devoted himself to the sport of
boxing over the past six years; benefiting from the guidance of his
coach, Jesse Vasquez, he has earned a reputation for his impeccable
work ethic and his physical and mental toughness in both practice
sessions and in competitions; and
WHEREAS, Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to
excellence, Diego Barron is a source of tremendous pride for his
family and his community, and he is poised for further success in
the boxing ring in the years ahead; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Diego Barron on being named to the
2021 USA Boxing Junior High Performance Squad as the nation's
top-ranked boxer in his division and extend to him sincere best
wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Barron as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
