| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The service club Mission BE A Resource of Sugar Land |

| 6 | 7 | | has demonstrated a strong commitment to helping children in need; |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, BEAR was founded in 2020 by students in the Fort Bend |

| 9 | 10 | | Independent School District concerned about children in foster |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | care; with family roots in India, members who visited that country |

| 11 | 12 | | had gained a special understanding of child poverty, and as they |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | observed it closer to home, they wanted to improve the lives of |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | local children who did not share their own advantages; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, While taking appropriate precautions in the midst of |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | the COVID-19 pandemic, BEAR members have provided valuable |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | assistance to Rainbow Rooms, where Child Protective Services |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | workers can go to pick up items for children who have suffered abuse |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | and neglect; members have purchased holiday gifts for foster |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | children, donated supplies, and participated in such fundraising |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | events as the Sugar Land Turkey Trot and Fort Bend KIA 30K; |

| 21 | 22 | | moreover, they have helped sort books, make meals, and prepare |

| 22 | 23 | | snack bags for Lunches of Love; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, BEAR members have worked in coalition with FBISD |

| 24 | 25 | | Shared Dreams, which offers short-term assistance to students in |

| 25 | 26 | | the district; they won a Hershey Heartwarming Young Heroes Grant |

| 26 | 27 | | from Youth Service America for their Global Youth Service Day |

| 27 | 28 | | school supply drive on April 24, 2021, which received further |

| 28 | 29 | | support from local businesses and nonprofits; in addition, members |

| 29 | 30 | | commemorated Child Abuse Prevention Month by decorating the grounds |

| 30 | 31 | | at Alcorn Oaks Pool with blue pinwheels from the Fort Bend County |

| 31 | 32 | | Sheriff's Office; finding even more ways to be of service, they made |

| 32 | 33 | | Valentine's Day cards for Meals on Wheels clients, and they have |

| 33 | 34 | | volunteered at food banks; and |

| 34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Members of BEAR include Maya and Arjun Govindaraj, |

| 35 | 36 | | Lakshanya and Ved Solipuram, Ronit Maganti, Aarini Mehta, Arisha |

| 36 | 37 | | and Ishaal Merchant, Advaith Govind, and Sriram Susarla; and |

| 37 | 38 | | WHEREAS, Through their compassion, leadership, and |

| 38 | 39 | | dedication, the members of Mission BE A Resource have made a |

| 39 | 40 | | positive difference in the lives of many fellow Texans, and they |

| 40 | 41 | | have set an inspiring example of civic engagement; now, therefore, |

| 42 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 43 | 44 | | Legislature hereby honor Mission BE A Resource for its service to |
