| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Elena Tamez has ably served her fellow Texans as an |

| 6 | 6 | | aide in the office of State Representative Trey Martinez Fischer |

| 7 | 7 | | during the 87th Legislative Session; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Tamez has provided |

| 9 | 9 | | vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks; |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | in addition to gaining valuable experience in the field of public |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | service, she has learned more about the legislative process and the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, A pre-med student, Ms. Tamez is pursuing a public |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | health degree at Texas A&M University, where she has served as an |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | undergraduate assistant for research focused on improving cancer |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | screenings among underserved populations in South and Central |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Texas; holding leadership roles with numerous organizations, she |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | belongs to the Pre-med Latino Undergraduate Society of the Latino |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Medical Student Association and is an officer for the Lambda Xi |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Chapter of the Delta Zeta Sorority; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Tamez has also served as a volunteer with the |

| 22 | 22 | | Mentoring Youth and Exposure to Medicine educational outreach |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | program sponsored by the Texas A&M College of Medicine; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed her |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | duties as a legislative aide with skill and dedication, and she is |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | therefore, be it |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby commend Elena Esther Tamez for her service as a |
