5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Caleb Daniel Rule of the Fort Bend County |

6 | 7 | | Precinct 4 Constable's Office died in the line of duty on May 29, |

7 | 8 | | 2020, at the age of 37, and his family, friends, colleagues, and |

8 | 9 | | community mourn the loss of this exemplary officer; and |
---|
9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Caleb Rule was born in Salina, Kansas, on June 5, |
---|
10 | 11 | | 1982, to Stanley R. Rule and Judith K. Daniels; he grew up with the |
---|
11 | 12 | | companionship of a brother, Matt, and a sister, Carrie, and the |
---|
12 | 13 | | family moved to Houston for a time before settling in Needville; and |
---|
13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Rule began his career in law enforcement as a |
---|
14 | 15 | | dispatcher for the Rosenberg Police Department in 2002, and he |
---|
15 | 16 | | subsequently worked as a correctional officer for the Fort Bend |
---|
16 | 17 | | County Sheriff's Office; after joining the Missouri City Police |
---|
17 | 18 | | Department in 2004, he went on to serve as a detective in that |
---|
18 | 19 | | department from 2011 to 2018, as well as in numerous other |
---|
19 | 20 | | capacities; he later excelled in his duties with the Fort Bend |
---|
20 | 21 | | County Precinct 4 Constable's Office, where he was hired as a patrol |
---|
21 | 22 | | deputy in September 2019; a humble and hardworking officer, he |
---|
22 | 23 | | never shied away from difficult assignments and always sought out |
---|
23 | 24 | | opportunities to better serve his department and community; he was |
---|
24 | 25 | | also a dedicated mentor who found fulfillment in helping his |
---|
25 | 26 | | younger colleagues hone their skills; and |
---|
26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, An immensely proud family man, Deputy Rule enjoyed |
---|
27 | 28 | | the love and support of his wife, Eden Rule, who was his high school |
---|
28 | 29 | | sweetheart, and the couple were blessed with four children, Annie, |
---|
29 | 30 | | Rosalan, Mark, and Lizzie; and |
---|
30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Deputy Rule drew strength from |
---|
31 | 32 | | his deep and abiding faith; he won the affection of all who knew him |
---|
32 | 33 | | with his warm, gregarious personality and unique sense of humor, |
---|
33 | 34 | | and he had a passion for music and for playing the guitar, as well as |
---|
34 | 35 | | an interest in theater and photography; and |
---|
35 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Rule embodied the highest ideals of his |
---|
36 | 37 | | profession, and although he is greatly missed, his commitment to |
---|
37 | 38 | | his calling and his love for his family will remain a lasting source |
---|
38 | 39 | | of inspiration to those he left behind; now, therefore, be it |
---|
39 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

40 | 41 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Deputy Caleb Daniel |

41 | 42 | | Rule and extend deepest condolences to the members of his family: to |

42 | 43 | | his wife, Eden Rule; to his children, Annie, Rosalan, Mark, and |

43 | 44 | | Lizzie Rule; to his parents, Stan and Judy Rule; to his siblings, |
