5	6		WHEREAS, Texans and visitors from across the nation benefit
6	7		greatly from the dedicated efforts of the employees of the State
7	8		Preservation Board; and
8	9		WHEREAS, This vital state agency is responsible for the
9	10		preservation and maintenance of the historic buildings in the
10	11		Capitol Complex, and it approves all construction, repair, and
11	12		renovation work; it also operates the Bullock Texas State History
12	13		Museum, the Texas State Cemetery, the Capitol Visitors Center and
13	14		gift shops, and the Capitol Visitors Parking Garage; moreover, the
14	15		agency provides educational and curatorial services, offers guided
15	16		tours to the public, schedules and manages public events, and
16	17		maintains the Texas Governor's Mansion and its grounds; and
17	18		WHEREAS, Executive Director Rod Welsh oversees the State
18	19		Preservation Board with the able assistance of the executive staff,
19	20		David L. Byers, Bob Cash, Erin Christensen, Christopher B. Currens,
20	21		Linda L. Gaby, Dale G. Hernandez, Alice B. James, Leslie Pawelka,
21	22		Cindy Provine, and Ann M. Vay, as well as the skilled members of the
22	23		finance department, Lindsey A. Alvarado, Barbara Hanus, Angela
23	24		Knoll, Lisa Stockton, Laura Kelly, Deanna L. Wall, and Vashyra
24	25		Waller; the agency's work further benefits from the support of its
25	26		administrative personnel, Virginia Benavidez, Robert M. Davis,
26	27		Dana Dennett, Jane A. Falkenberg, Patricia G. Hernandez-Ruiz,

100	101		WHEREAS, Through their dedicated stewardship of a rich
101	102		legacy, the administrators and employees of the State Preservation
102	103		Board are rendering a vital service to the people of Texas and
103	104		introducing countless visitors to the remarkable story of the Lone
104	105		Star State; now, therefore, be it
105	106		RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
106	107		Legislature hereby commend the staff of the State Preservation
107	108		Board for their exemplary service; and, be it further
108	109		RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
109	110		prepared for the State Preservation Board as an expression of high
110	111		regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
