56 WHEREAS, Texans and visitors from across the nation benefit
67 greatly from the dedicated efforts of the employees of the State
78 Preservation Board; and
89 WHEREAS, This vital state agency is responsible for the
910 preservation and maintenance of the historic buildings in the
1011 Capitol Complex, and it approves all construction, repair, and
1112 renovation work; it also operates the Bullock Texas State History
1213 Museum, the Texas State Cemetery, the Capitol Visitors Center and
1314 gift shops, and the Capitol Visitors Parking Garage; moreover, the
1415 agency provides educational and curatorial services, offers guided
1516 tours to the public, schedules and manages public events, and
1617 maintains the Texas Governor's Mansion and its grounds; and
1718 WHEREAS, Executive Director Rod Welsh oversees the State
1819 Preservation Board with the able assistance of the executive staff,
1920 David L. Byers, Bob Cash, Erin Christensen, Christopher B. Currens,
2021 Linda L. Gaby, Dale G. Hernandez, Alice B. James, Leslie Pawelka,
2122 Cindy Provine, and Ann M. Vay, as well as the skilled members of the
2223 finance department, Lindsey A. Alvarado, Barbara Hanus, Angela
2324 Knoll, Lisa Stockton, Laura Kelly, Deanna L. Wall, and Vashyra

102103 Board are rendering a vital service to the people of Texas and
103104 introducing countless visitors to the remarkable story of the Lone
104105 Star State; now, therefore, be it
105106 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
106107 Legislature hereby commend the staff of the State Preservation
107108 Board for their exemplary service; and, be it further
108109 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
109110 prepared for the State Preservation Board as an expression of high
110111 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
