45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Jeriah Yu, a student at the Liberal Arts and Science
67 Academy in Austin, has achieved great distinction by finishing in
78 the top 100 contestants in the 2021 CyberStart America National
89 Cyber Scholarship Competition; and
910 WHEREAS, The CyberStart America Initiative is an innovative
1011 cybersecurity training program in which high school students
1112 compete for scholarships and prizes; developed by the SANS
1213 Institute, the initiative encourages the next generation to pursue
1314 careers in the field; in the CyberStart online challenge, students
1415 take on the role of a cyber protection agent and work to solve
1516 realistic problems and puzzles and to explore such topics as
1617 cryptography and digital forensics; and
1718 WHEREAS, A senior at LASA, Mr. Yu was one of just seven
1819 students from Texas who ranked in the top two percent of the more
1920 than 5,000 CyberStart participants nationwide; and
2021 WHEREAS, This talented young Texan has demonstrated
2122 exceptional skill and ingenuity in an emerging technology field,
2223 and his abilities are sure to serve him well in the years ahead;
2324 now, therefore, be it
2425 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
2526 Legislature hereby congratulate Jeriah Yu on finishing in the top
2627 100 contestants in the 2021 CyberStart America National Cyber
2728 Scholarship Competition and extend to him sincere best wishes for
2829 the future; and, be it further
2930 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3031 prepared for Mr. Yu as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3132 House of Representatives.
