45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer Gregg Swanson is retiring from
67 the U.S. Army on May 17, 2021, drawing to a close nearly two decades
78 of service to his nation; and
89 WHEREAS, Gregg Swanson enlisted in the army on September 17,
910 2001, and received his basic and advanced training at Fort Sill,
1011 Oklahoma, and Fort Huachuca, Arizona; he served at Camp Essayons in
1112 South Korea as an intelligence analyst before transferring to Fort
1213 Drum, New York, and deploying to Iraq for 13 months at the rank of
1314 corporal; following his promotion to sergeant, he worked as an
1415 airborne targeting surveillance supervisor at Robins Air Force Base
1516 in Georgia, where he was deployed several times between 2006 and
1617 2010 and became the lead evaluator; and
1718 WHEREAS, In 2010, Sergeant Swanson was accepted into the Army
1819 Warrant Officer Flight Program and trained to fly the OH-58D Kiowa
1920 Warrior helicopter, and in 2012, he was deployed out of Hunter Army
2021 Airfield in Georgia to Kandahar, Afghanistan, where he was pilot in
2122 command and trained junior pilots; after training as a fixed-wing
2223 pilot, he was transferred to Camp Humphreys in Pyeongtaek, South
2324 Korea, where as pilot in command he flew intelligence missions for
2425 two and a half years along the border of North Korea in an RC-12X
2526 Guardrail aircraft; he also served another combat deployment in
2627 Afghanistan and helped set up operations for missions in Eastern
2728 Europe; he is completing his military service at Fort Bliss in El
2829 Paso; and
2930 WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer Gregg Swanson's courage,
3031 skill, and dedication to duty have greatly benefited the defense of
3132 our nation and earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow
3233 soldiers, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his record of
3334 outstanding service as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of
3435 his life; now, therefore, be it
3536 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
3637 Legislature hereby congratulate Chief Warrant Officer Gregg
3738 Swanson on his retirement from the U.S. Army and extend to him
3839 sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it
3940 further
4041 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4142 prepared for Chief Warrant Officer Swanson as an expression of high
4243 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
