5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer Gregg Swanson is retiring from |

6 | 7 | | the U.S. Army on May 17, 2021, drawing to a close nearly two decades |

7 | 8 | | of service to his nation; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Gregg Swanson enlisted in the army on September 17, |
---|
9 | 10 | | 2001, and received his basic and advanced training at Fort Sill, |
---|
10 | 11 | | Oklahoma, and Fort Huachuca, Arizona; he served at Camp Essayons in |
---|
11 | 12 | | South Korea as an intelligence analyst before transferring to Fort |
---|
12 | 13 | | Drum, New York, and deploying to Iraq for 13 months at the rank of |
---|
13 | 14 | | corporal; following his promotion to sergeant, he worked as an |
---|
14 | 15 | | airborne targeting surveillance supervisor at Robins Air Force Base |
---|
15 | 16 | | in Georgia, where he was deployed several times between 2006 and |
---|
16 | 17 | | 2010 and became the lead evaluator; and |
---|
17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In 2010, Sergeant Swanson was accepted into the Army |
---|
18 | 19 | | Warrant Officer Flight Program and trained to fly the OH-58D Kiowa |

19 | 20 | | Warrior helicopter, and in 2012, he was deployed out of Hunter Army |
---|
20 | 21 | | Airfield in Georgia to Kandahar, Afghanistan, where he was pilot in |

21 | 22 | | command and trained junior pilots; after training as a fixed-wing |

22 | 23 | | pilot, he was transferred to Camp Humphreys in Pyeongtaek, South |

23 | 24 | | Korea, where as pilot in command he flew intelligence missions for |
---|
24 | 25 | | two and a half years along the border of North Korea in an RC-12X |
---|
25 | 26 | | Guardrail aircraft; he also served another combat deployment in |
---|
26 | 27 | | Afghanistan and helped set up operations for missions in Eastern |
---|
27 | 28 | | Europe; he is completing his military service at Fort Bliss in El |

29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer Gregg Swanson's courage, |

30 | 31 | | skill, and dedication to duty have greatly benefited the defense of |

31 | 32 | | our nation and earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow |

32 | 33 | | soldiers, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his record of |
