| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Texas Independent Producers and |

| 6 | 7 | | Royalty Owners Association are celebrating the 75th anniversary of |

| 7 | 8 | | their organization in 2021; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Following the discovery of oil in Texas at the start |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | of the 20th century, many Texans worked as independent producers, |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | while many others became royalty owners of oil wells; faced with |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | strong competition from the major oil companies, the independent |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | producers formed the Independent Petroleum Association of Texas in |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | 1933; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, In 1946, the association was reorganized by Glenn |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | McCarthy and H. J. "Jack" Porter as the Texas Independent Producers |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | and Royalty Owners Association (TIPRO); originally comprised of 39 |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | wildcatters, TIPRO has sought to preserve the ability of |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | independent producers to seek out and produce oil and natural gas; |

| 19 | 20 | | and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Today, TIPRO is one of the largest oil and gas trade |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | associations in the nation, and its nearly 3,000 members |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | collectively produce almost 90 percent of the oil and natural gas in |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Texas; they also own millions of acres of mineral interests across |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | the state; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, TIPRO benefits from the leadership of its chair, |

| 26 | 27 | | Brent Hopkins, the CEO of Suemaur Exploration & Production, as well |

| 27 | 28 | | as that of president Ed Longanecker, vice president of finance and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | administration Joanne McCord-Reynolds, director of state |

| 29 | 30 | | government and regulatory affairs Ryan Paylor, director of |

| 30 | 31 | | communications Kelli Snyder, and membership coordinator Anjelica |

| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, For three-quarters of a century, TIPRO has been a |

| 33 | 34 | | champion for the independent producers and royalty owners of the |

| 34 | 35 | | Lone Star State's oil and gas industry, and its members may indeed |

| 35 | 36 | | take pride in its many achievements as they mark this impressive |

| 36 | 37 | | milestone in the association's history; now, therefore, be it |

| 37 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 38 | 39 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Texas |

| 39 | 40 | | Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association and extend to |

| 40 | 41 | | its members and staff sincere best wishes for continued success; |
